Going Nuts on a Text Issue!

Hellllllppppppppppppppp!

Friday, March 23, 2012 by LightStar | Discussion: Skinning

I have a text issue on the programs panel area in Windows Vista and Windows 7.  All of my skinning software is up to date.

In the programs panel when I click anything the text almost grays out and you cannot read it easily (as shown in the left image), and everything else you mouseover cannot be read either. However, if I move my cursor out of the programs panel and back into it, the text color is as it should be (as shown in right image).  I am using separate mouseover images for the programs and places panels, and this is the only skin that seems to be having the issue.  I would hate to have to completely restart the skin from scratch as it is really close to being finished (designed for XP, Vista and 7). I have spent many hours over the last 3 weeks trying to figure this out, but to no avail. All the text colors are set correctly.

Any assistance would be really appreciated.

Are you saying you have different "Mousover items" The frames around the text for Programs & Places ??

I Fiddle alot with those parts & i can almost certainly say that it´s got to do with the color settings for the Text....

You should ONLY set text colors in Programs/Places lists & keep font OS Default, & In Item mouseover Have The color set to OS Default & There set the font.

Also some times you actually have to have several color boxes to choose the color from so the places & programs do not use the same one although same color as it will behave erradically otherwise (Like you experience now.

Edit: When this problem you experience occurs it´s quite hard to get it right, but experiment with what I suggested & you´ll be okay.

Tom is tha greyed out text the same color as the color you have set for your main window text color? I ask cause just something to check if the DWM is not active or delayed the menu will use window text color .

Example it is a windows service found in the Task Manager if you shut it down you will see several changes in the skin like this area ,Per_pixel info I have recently been seeing this happen on 1 of my PCs.Note if you shut down DWM.exe thru task Manager you will have to use DeskScapes or restart PC to reactivate.

does the text remain after you refocus/reopen back to the menu or go bonkers again when you reopen?

It was what neone6 said, but it took me doing what AVMAN said to figure out part of the problem too.  Thanks everyone!
